One of the things I love about the patriarchs is they’re not perfect. The Jewish faith likes to say “We came from Abraham, look at Father Abraham.” (Who else got the song in their head now?)
They don’t mention how twice Abraham nearly let his wife be given to another man. Or his other failure………
But despite his failings Abraham did move “across the world” when God told him to. I don’t know if I’d be willing to do that.
I had a lot planned to do with this lesson on Abraham, but ran into the problem of a week long migraine. So we only achieved a few of the things in the lesson plan.
We happily spent an afternoon coloring the picture of Abraham counting the stars and then painting it to get a nice wax resist effect.
I love crayon resist projects, they’re so much fun.
And the final results really did vary so much. On the far right is mine, the middle one is Superman’s and Batman’s is the one on the right, I think………
The next day after reading the story again we built an altar, just like God told Abraham to do. We searched all over our backyard for rocks, and built a nice little altar. It would have gotten bigger, but that was the day the temperature dropped 30 degrees and we were getting threats of snow.
So, only a little altar.

I’ve nearly got the last of Genesis done, I got held up by having to redraw and color half of it because the house ate my pictures.
